I couldn’t resist ! This is fresh from a local well known eaterie’s menu board – 3 errors in 2 sentences !

Seriously, wouldn’t you ask the tit who wrote the board if they had any literacy issues before you let them write it ? And I’d love to know what ‘pest’ is …

I’ll leave you spot the gaffes …

roast lion – thats a classic ! did you spot the LAS-ANGE ? or the Chilli con Carni – i wonder does that mean a chilli with a carnival type flavour ?

i can’t make the picture big enough to scrutinize the spellings, but when i see roast beef, i always think of eric newby and “the last grain race,” and the finnish sailors he was with on the moshulu, who referred to him, being english and all, as “rosbif strongbody.”

yep we just woke up
the spellings say …

Toad in the Whole – not as strange as it sounds
and
Salmon topped with Pest !

6. Laurie - February 2, 2007

salmon topped with pest? like, anchovies? they’re kind of pesky. or maybe snails?

7. GerryOS - February 6, 2007

I saw a chalk-board recently that had something like this on it:

Deep-fried baby
squid on a bed of
salad leaves with
sweet chilli sauce

I passed by a short while later and predictably, some wag had wiped out the word “squid”.

8. Rambling Man - February 7, 2007

gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “I’m so hungry, I’d eat a small child !” …

Laurie – i guess the “pest” was meant to say “pesto”, but images of a fish with mice on it kept coming into my head

9. GerryOS - February 7, 2007

but images of a fish with mice on it kept coming into my head

Or cockroaches, maybe, to give the fish a crunchy topping…

10. Rambling Man - February 7, 2007
