Somewhere between Dubai and Dubrovnik … January 5, 2007

Posted by Rambling Man in Ireland & the Irish.

An interesting sight struck me this morning when browsing the airline sites for some cheap getaways …. on www.aerlingus.com or www.aerlingus.ie, when it comes to flight selection and choosing your point of departure, none of the Irish airports are at the top of the list. You know the way a drop down list of departure points might first off have Dublin, Cork, Shannon and so on before then starting an alphabetical list of other departure cities ? Well not a sight of it !

On the website of our national airline, Dublin, our capital city, which is where one presumes most people leaving Ireland by plane fly from, is stuck way down the list lingering somewhere between Dubai and Dubrovnik …

Not that it really matters, but the 5 airports listed at the top of the list as the main airline hubs are all in the UK – London, Glasgow etc.

Is it just me or is Dublin no longer a main hub for Aer Lingus ?
