Came across this beauty at a recent meal at a friend’s house. Have the producers of this wine called it after a donkey – either that or a popular Irish abbreviation of the name Edward ?
Yes waiter, I think I’ll have a bottle of “the Ned” please … (Red Ned maybe ?) … although I’m sure some wino wine aficianado will tell me it’s short for something or region related but there you go …
The Ned gets its name from a mountain range in Marlborough, New Zealand, from where this wine comes.
